Introducing the Staff behind the Refuge House of Prayer
Lead Catalyst, Jake Hamilton and his wife Nicci with their two children, Geneva and Ezra
Jake Hamilton is the Lead Catalyst at the Refuge House of Prayer. As the Lead Catalyst,
he is the driving force behind the vision and direction of RefugeHOP. Jake has been
involved actively in ministry for almost 10 years in the heart of Rancho Cucamonga. He has
been involved in planting a church as well as serving both as a worship pastor and then as
youth pastor for many years in the same local church in Rancho, where he eventually met his
wife of 5 years, Nicci.
Jake and Nicci both grew up and attended school in Rancho Cucamonga from
Elementary to High School. They married in the summer of 2002 and are blessed with 2 beautiful
children, Geneva (three) and Ezra (one). Jake has always been personally committed to the passionate
pursuit of the knowledge of God and a deep desire for intimacy with Jesus, but his ministry path
took a turn two years ago when he was introduced to the International House Of Prayer (IHOP) in
Kansas City for the first time. There he was introduced to a 24/7 lifestyle of prayer, worship and
fasting that at this time has been going non-stop for almost 8 years. As he witnessed the passion
and intimacy at IHOP a longing began to grow in his heart to foster a corporate pursuit of this
lifestyle in his home community and the body of Christ represented there. It was only a year later
that Jake decided, after prayer, fasting, and the confirmation of prophetic words to move on the
assignment God had placed on his heart for this season.
One specific prophetic word came from Lou
Engle at a conference at Bethel Church in Redding just one week after Jake had committed to moving
forward in this call. Lou spoke to him directly and said, "You are called to plant a 24/7 house of
prayer in the Inland Empire that will break the bondage of drug and alcohol addiction, the power of
divorce, and the defeat depression." He knew from that moment on that this wasn't just a good idea,
it was God's idea. And so began the journey of the Refuge House of Prayer. Jake's passion is to raise
up a generation in revival, where the impossible is possible and we learn to tarry for the promises of
God to be made manifest on earth. His powerful worship brings intimacy and breaks chains as he passionately
draws people into the throne room of heaven where the King of Glory dwells with all the provisions of heaven.
He has seen the power of the cross for salvation, healing, and deliverance as people have come into their right
identity in Christ and begin to see the depth of love God has for them. He has recognized his destiny and he
desires the same for all those who enter RefugeHOP.
Revival is NOW!
Jamie Vanderpool is the Director of Communication at the Refuge House of Prayer
Jamie has been in ministry for over 7 years serving in areas ranging from worship ministry,
small groups, youth ministry, and currently in the House of Prayer at Refuge. She has served as the undergirding for
leadership in each of these areas humbly using her organizational abilities and her prophetic gifting to give those
she serves with the understanding of the hour they are in allowing them to become all that they were called to be.
She has known that this would be her full-time vocation since she was in the third grade when she clearly heard
the voice of the Lord speaking destiny over her even at a young age. She currently serves Jake, our Lead Catalyst,
as a life assistant making sure both he and his family are covered and current at the Refuge House of Prayer.
She has also been the main coordinator for many of the Refuge events that have taken place over the last two years.
Jamie has a deep passion for intimacy with the Lord and a longing for young adults to experience the true love they
can find in Jesus alone as they seek His face in prayer, worship, and fasting.
The Refuge
is not a new idea. It is the heart of God in this day for His people to give themselves to a fasted lifestyle fueled
by prayer. We believe that this could not and possibly should not be done by only one community of believers. It should
be our desire to labor together in the work of revival. So that as we see the transforming work of the Holy Spirit poured
out in our region so we can celebrate as one. So, what is the goal of this house...HEAVEN ON EARTH. How do we get there?
We believe that history is in the hands of those who pray. We are calling the history makers from all churches and all
denominations to a common ground.
